Hey guys! This week, I am going to talk you through my favorite things from February and March. Since I did not get a chance to talk about it in February, I am going to combine the past two months together. Plus, the things I was loving back in February, I am still loving now in March. Let me know if any of these things are your favorites as well!
Ocarina of Time
With the new Nintendo system being released, and there being a new Legend of Zelda game out, I though I would finally go through and complete Ocarina of Time. I had played the bulk of this game one other time, but it was on my old room mate’s system, so when we parted ways, so did my play through. I am currently on the water temple, and I am trying to push myself to finish at least this Zelda game before I buy the Switch, and with it, Breath of the Wild. Maybe I will even start Wind Waker, but that would be a stretch. I do like Ocarina of Time, but there are certain things that frustrate me about it, that make the game a little more challenging than it should be. But, I do enjoy getting back into a game with an end goal.
I know I am super late to the party, but I had not heard much about this game, and the $60 price tag made me not want to consider buying it. I recently got the 30% off Birthday Code for the Nintendo eShop, and this game was on the list of games I could purchase. So, I decided to give it a try and see what all of the hype is about. I actually really like it a lot. I am normally not very good at first person shooters, but this one has been a good challenge for me. Also, the fact that it is just splattering paint all over the place makes it a little bit easier to play. I think with other shooters, I get anxious about getting killed in those games, but with Splatoon, that is not really the end goal as much. I love the art style, and just the concept of the game as a whole. I am still only at a level 5, but I will definitely keep working toward getting to higher levels.
As fas as music goes, there is one artist that I have listened to more than any other, and that is Ed Sheeran. I had not really listened to his music before, except for the main popular hits he had with his first major album. I heard Shape Of You, from his new album, and became obsessed with it. So, I decided to give the rest of the album a listen, and I really love it. There are so many songs for different occasions, and I love an artist that can fit all of that emotion into one album. Galway Girl is another great one that I really love. If you have not heard his new album, go check it out on Spotify, or just buy it. It is really worth the money.
At the beginning of February, my mom hosted an Arbonne party. If you have never heard of Arbonne, it is a skin care company that is all natural. They have skin care, makeup, and also weight management products. I decided to get back into using their products, after not using them for a few years. These products are definitely worth the hefty price tag. I just love how it makes my skin feel, and also how it gets me into a routine of taking care of my skin. I know future me is probably going to benefit more from Arbonne than I do right now, since I am starting to take care of my skin before I have any major issues. I have the whole R9 kit, and also a mud mask, and I love them. The mud mask is REALLY intense, but I love how my skin feels after I use it. I also got their mascara, and I do like it in comparison to the drug store mascara I had been using. I definitely would recommend it.
I finally got a batch to turn out really well with my home brew kit!! I was a little bummed after my first batch didn’t turn out(You can read all about it in one of my previous blog posts), but I did not want to give up on it. I knew what I had done wrong, and took all of the necessary measures to make sure that this batch turned out. I tried the beers yesterday, and they are pretty decent. There will be a future blog post all about the successes of this batch versus the previous one. I am definitely more excited now to try and make other beers.
If you have never heard of Duolingo, it is an app that helps you learn another language. I tried it a year ago to get better at German, but I did not keep up with it enough, and eventually lost interest in it. My friends hoped on the bandwagon again, and so I thought I would finally learn Spanish. I am currently on a 14 day streak, and am really loving it. It is a great app to learn the language with, and if you keep up on it, you really learn a lot. I have been really motivated to learn it, and hopefully that continues, until I get through all of the lessons in Spanish. Once I am done with Spanish, I will probably go back to German, and get back on track.
I have recently started getting into reading books for fun again, and I have really enjoyed it so far. I got quite a few books on my last trip to Barnes and Noble, and one of the books I got was Girl Online by Zoe Sugg. If you recognize the author, than you will know that she is also a YouTuber. I talked about her in my Favorite YouTubers blog post, if you want to go check that out. I had never gotten into her books, so I thought I would give them a shot. I am not super far into it, but I am definitely loving it so far. And, since Jack always likes to cuddle up to me while I am reading, he just had to be in the photo. I will update you once I get through the whole book about how I feel about it. I am also really interested to see how the other books in her series are.
This is another book that I got at Barnes and Noble the other day. I read this book in one day, because that is how much I liked it. The book is by George Orwell, and it depicts a farm, where the animals take over and control it on their own. The book is only 140 pages long, but it was an amazing book. I just didn’t want to put it down, and I had the time to actually spend reading it. This book really sucks you into it, and you are always thinking about what is going to happen, and shocked when the unexpected happened. If you have not read this book, I highly recommend it. The next time I stop at a Barnes and Noble, I am going to pick up 1984, and see how that compares.
On St. Patrick’s day, I was checking out Woodwind Brasswind, since one of my students wanted to order a case for their instrument. I noticed that they were having a sale on Folk Instruments, since it was St. Patrick’s Day. I decided to just browse them, and see if there was anything that interested me. Sure enough, I saw that Didgeridoos were included in this sale. Now, I have wanted a didgeridoo for a while now, but had never been able to find them, and just put it on the back burner of my mind. When I saw they were on sale, and also how inexpensive a basic didgeridoo was, I knew I had to get one. I am obsessed with it! I just love basic it is to get a sound out of it for me, but also there are so many other things that I can learn to do with it, that I am excited to get into it. I am always looking for new, odd instruments to learn, and this was definitely on my list. I will give a report on it, once I get a little bit better at it.
Himalayan Salt Lamp
Also on my latest shopping trip, I saw the Himalayan Salt Lamp. I have heard about these a couple of times, and was intrigued by it. So I figured I would get one, and see if I liked it or not. I am obsessed with it. I am not sure if it actually is cleansing the air, but I love the color of it. I am definitely a warm lighting kind of person, and turning this on and having a bunch of candles lit, is the most relaxing thing for me after a long day of work. I just love having it in my main sitting room, just purely as decoration. I would recommend it, but only if it fits your style.
Vegan Banana Bread
I love baking, and one of my favorite things to make is a goo Banana Bread. I normally use the generic Betty Crocker recipe, and it always turns out great. One of my coworkers is a vegan, and I have always been curious about how difficult it would be to take a regular recipe, like banana bread, and make it vegan friendly. So, I found a good recipe online, which it was still a Betty Crocker recipe, and tried it out for myself. I was surprised by how simple it was to make this recipe, and how great the bread itself turned out. I made little banana bars, and brought them to work the next day for people to try. Everyone seemed to enjoy them, and I was really happy with the end result. I only had to switch out a few ingredients. The only thing about it though is I had to get all the supplemental ingredients from a store that is an hour away from me. I would love to try baking more vegan recipes, but I will definitely have to stock up on all the supplies the next time I go to a big city. It is always fun to try something a little bit different.
Those are all of things that I have been really loving in February and March. I hope there are some things on this list that you have also been loving as well, and also some new things that you will now look into. Let me know if any of these things are also your favorites as well, and also if you try to use anything on this list, and end up loving it. I hope you have a great week, and I hope to see you all next week, when I will be another year older 🙂
