I am back from the 3 month hiatus I took!! I did not mean to be gone for this long, but there were some personal things I had to deal with, and the end of the school year was crazy for me, to say the least. I just thought I would chat you through what I have been up to this summer, and show you some of the photos that I took throughout my adventures. Let me know what things you were up to throughout the summer!
I know, it is the beginning of August. Why am I already reflecting on summer being over? Well, my school starts back up again on August 23rd, so my summer is coming to a close super fast. In July, I bought myself a Nikon CoolPix B500, so I was excited to take some amazing pictures of my summer fun. The picture above was from the massive flower garden in my backyard, when I first started to experiment with my new equipment.
For most of the summer, I worked at the local pool in my town. It had it’s ups and downs, and many interesting things for sure happened there, but we are not going to get into that so much. In June, I went to one of my brother’s Timbersport’s Competitions. If you don’t know what those are, let me explain a little bit. Timbersport’s is where men and women come, and speed chop and saw wood (that is putting it into the most simple terms I can). Lumberjack’s and Lumberjill’s haver their own separate competitions, and the one we were attending was the Midwest Qualifier, to get into the Stihl Series competition, which was held in Milwaukee this year. You can win some serious cash if you do well in these competitions, and my brother has been starting to get up there in the ranks. I am no expert, but I have been to a fair few shows now, and understand everything for the most part. He is a great sawer, but he still is improving on his skills, and hopes to be in the top ranks someday.
So, this competition was in Mt. Horeb, WI, which I had never even heard of before I went to this competition last year. It is a smaller town, and we were their during the annual frolics. I had a blast watching the competitions (which I helped time all of the events), and also running around Mt. Horeb with my family and my friend Reed. My brother may not have qualified for the Stihl series, but we all still had an amazing time there.
One of the next major events was another Timbersport’s competition! In July, the Lumberjack World Championships are held in Hayward, WI, and this competition is even crazier than the Qualifier. People come from all over the globe to compete in this one, and it is a 3 day long competition. There were people from Canada, Australia, and the US, trying to win the title of All-A-Round Champion. The LWC is always a blast, and this year, my grandma got to come with us, which was super fun. We stayed at Trail’s End Resort on Lac Courte Oreilles, at my mom’s cousin’s trailer spot. We had a blast at the competition, and at the resort. My brother competed well, but unfortunately, did not make it to the final competition day. Some of his buddies also competed, and only one of them made it to the final day of competition. This competition is always one of the most fun to go to.
After this, I went to my friend’d cabin in Nisswa, MN, on Gull Lake. His family have an amazing cabin on the lake, and the town is also really fun to be at too. We went to breweries, played a lot of board games and card games, and hung out on the lake for a while. It was a nice little get away, especially since I have not been able to go out to any lakes being stuck in ND all summer. My dog even got to come with, and I know he enjoyed being with us, even if we did stay up later than normal.
Then, one of the major highlights of my summer. I got to go see Billy Joel in concert at Target Field! It was unbelievable. Gavin DeGraw opened for him, which I was surprised to see, but he was pretty good. The concert was 4 hours long, and I wanted it to be even longer! I cried a couple of time, because of the pure awesomeness of the experience. Axl Rose showed up and sang a few songs with Billy Joel, and that was amazing, since I was unable to get tickets for the Guns N Roses concert that was a couple days after that. Billy Joel is an amazing performer, and I loved every minute of seeing him live. Maybe next time I go to one of his concerts, I can be a little closer to the action.
I also had a girls weekend with my mom, and aunts and cousins on my dad’s side. It was a blast, and I am not going to go into all of the details because it was a crazy day, and I may not remember all of them, so I don’t want to say something that actually didn’t happened. It was fun being able to get together with family that I don’t see very often. Especially since one of cousin’s passed away in April of this year. It was a great time to reconnect and try to form a stronger bound between all of us, and I was glad that I could be there for it.
Well, that is everything that I can think of! Summer isn’t over yet, but I don’t have much more planned, since I don’t have much summer left. Let me know if you went on any big trips over the summer! All of the photos on here, are mostly taken with my new camera, and you are probably going to see a lot more photos on this blog than you did before. Hopefully, everyone appreciates that! I may have posts with just photos.
Now, I will try my hardest to start posting weekly again, but I don’t want to force myself to make up content, that I do not find interesting. Some of the things I originally posted, are ideas that I thought were great at the time, but I am not in to them anymore. I may go through and talk about some of my summer favorites, and I also may chat about some video games that I played throughout my time off. We will see what happens! Stick with me as I try to revamp what I want this blog to be about, and the things that I want to post. I hope you all had an amazing summer, like I have, and I hope to see you next week with another post.
